I Made My Teacher Laugh

It was a hot Wednesday afternoon and everyone (except me I guess) in the room seems interested to my professor’s story. I preoccupied with the next subject. I couldn’t wait for it. Though some of my classmates find it boring, I was still looking forward for 2 hours of discussion.

Curious about the subject? It’s Pathophysiology. How about the teacher? She’s one of my favorites, Ma’am M.

The story was nice. It was all about his vacation in Thailand. Thailand is like this and like that, blah, blah, blah. An hour had passed and my teacher went out. End of first class.

Soaking with sweat (our room is not air-conditioned); I waited for the next class to start. Clock ticked few minutes and she came.

Usually, she comes to class with her don’t-mess-with-me look or I’m-not-in-the-mood for jokes look. I can rarely see her smile and laugh. And those times were so brief. After those brief moments, she’ll have those terrorizing look again. But not that afternoon! She was smiling! A miracle it was!

She was in good mood that afternoon I believe. She was really smiling. She discussed the lecture with high energy. From immune response to immune disease, everything went smoothly.

We were discussing XLA when she called my name. She asked something about it. Cat got my tongue I can’t answer the question. I was staring at her with my mind so blank with thoughts. And then she smiled. Then she laughed.

I couldn’t believe she was laughing at me. It was the first time. Though she laughed at me, I didn’t get mad at her. Instead my heart feels great that I made her smile and laugh. A history. A story to tell. It made me happy. It really did.

It’s fun to make someone happy. It makes our feeling better. The joy it brings is a great treasure to keep.

Make someone happy. A happy heart is a good medicine.
